Abstract This work investigates the potential relationship between road salt

application and PM concentration in regards to air quality. Over ten

million tons of sodium chloride (NaCl) have been dispersed onto US

roads annually for seizing purposes. Monitoring data collected by the

Environmental Protection Agency was used to determine the

composition of particulate matter samples in realtivity to snowfall.
